We are excited about instituting an "Open Access" scheduling system to make our doctor as accessible as possible. In the past, you would often have to wait six to eight weeks to get a routine appointment with a busy doctor. This is how most medical practices do business, but that is not acceptable to us. We feel that your time is just as valuable as ours and we are trying to do something about it. Our "Open Access" system allows us to leave enough appointments open each day so that the majority of people who call for an appointment can be seen much more rapidly than in the past. For detailed information, please read "A Few Words on Appointment Scheduling". Please call the office 24 hours in advance to cancel appointments. Failing to do so could result in a $35.00 charge, for which you are responsible, since insurance will not cover this assessment.We are committed to prompt service, and will work very hard, barring emergencies, to stay on time. We may ask you to reschedule if you arrive for your appointment more than 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment.

We participate with almost all local insurance plans. Please bring your insurance card with you so that we can make a copy for your record. Anytime that you have a change in insurance, address, or phone number, be sure to notify the receptionist so that the change can be entered into our system. Your co-pay, insurance deductible or office charges are due at the time of service. We accept cash, checks and credit cards, such as VISA and MASTERCARD, for payment. Visits related to a worker's compensation claim or resulting from a motor vehicle accident will need to be paid at the time of the visit. It is the patient's responsibility to follow up and seek reimbursement from your worker's comp or MVA insurance carrier or through a legal settlement.

You should call the office at least three (3) days before the appointment to give us the information needed to complete the referral. That information includes: your name, the physician you are being referred to, his phone and fax numbers, the date of the appointment, the diagnosis for the referral, your insurance, whether it is for a visit or a specific procedure (such as surgery), and where it is going to be performed (office or hospital). We do not mail referrals to specialists. You should familiarize yourself with your insurance plan, and determine if it requires you to take a referral with you. If you are not certain of how your referral is handled, please call the office for more information.

||
If you have an emergency, such as chest pain, severe shortness of breath, severe headache, or bleeding, call 911 or proceed directly to the nearest hospital emergency room. You can always call the office at 302-999-0137 with any questions about acute medical problems after hours. If the physician is not in the office, the machine will direct you to leave a message for the physician on call and our answering system will page him. If the doctor on call does not answer your call within 30 minutes, please recall the office.

Be sure to tell the Medical Assistant who brings you into the office for your visit if you need prescriptions before you see the doctor or nurse practitioner.
